Healthier Tomorrow Starts with You: Simple Actions = Lasting Wellness

Wow what a week it has been!  It has been a lot…..I hope that you have been able to take a breath  and re-evaluate what your next season is going to be about.  What adjustments do you need to make now to have the health and wellbeing you desire? If we want a healthier tomorrow we have agency and we can do it!!!

First, you need to assess what you are doing well and then identify areas where you might have opportunities for improvement.  As my very smart and insightful husband says “you have to take time to think about thinking!

Now is time to think about what you want long-term for health and wellness. I mean all of you, the physical, nutritional and the mental-emotional you.

The  year has flown by and the seasons are changing, so it is a good time for all of us to take inventory of where you are and where you want to go. Why?  Because we have learned that life continues to be very unpredictable with rising prices, weather extremes, digital overload, and mental health challenges, just to name a few.   All the things!

Here’s what we know for sure:  unpredictability is going to continue, so the best way to handle that is by building your resilience and strengthening your MIND -BODY connection- one small step at a time.  The key is consistency. Those small consistent steps build up over time  and lead to a healthier life. Micro Changes = BIG IMPACT.

So, make some goals now and take action if you want balance and resilience now and moving forward.  Keep reading to learn how to create effective, sustainable action steps toward those goals.

We all make decisions in the moment that impact our future selves.

A good example is “Does this choice today nourish me and move me toward what I want from my life tomorrow”? A not so good example would be,  not being aware of the decision in the first place, or saying I will deal with it tomorrow or worse. saying  ” Screw it to yourself ” essentially not taking ownership at all!!

The problem is that we often live driven by our past emotions and habits or we anticipate the future using outdates guideposts. Sometimes,  we fear something bad happening again, and by missing the present moment,  we do nothing.  We suffer from self doubt and get stuck right ? We all know what feels like.

Hands up if you have woken up one or many  Monday morning (one or many!) and decided that you were going to make change – start a new diet, more exercise, turn off electronics etc etc .. What happens most of the time?  We do it for a little while and if we don’t see results immediately or we feel worse (detoxing mind and body can be rough without the right support) or we hit a roadblock, and we stop.  Knowing who you are and gauging your readiness level for change is critical to success.  So is keeping the commitment to yourself and being patient with the process.

SIMPLE ACTION STEPS FOR A HEALTHIER TOMORROW

  • One step at a time, one day at a time, one thought at a time, it all adds up!
  • Consistency of good choices is the key.
  • Ask the question: Is this a good choice for me yes or no?
  • Decide you are worth it. THIS IS HUGE!!!
  • The quality of your life matters.
  • You are the only one in charge of your health.. Mind Body Spirit.
  • Notice when old negative patterns come up.  Ask yourself why? What are my triggers?
  • Start your day with GROW. state silently, “I approach this day with Gratitude, Respect, Observation, and Wisdom (GROW).”
  • Meditation, Prayer and Journaling are incredibly useful tools
  • You got the GENES…Oh No! I am here to tell you that EPIGENETICS (environment and choices) causes genes to express.  That’s right, it’s been proven over and over. So, if you know you can also prevent!

There is so much more… you get the picture. The way we Think and Nourish our mind and our body IS key. The mind and body are connected.

Last but not least ASK for HELP and SUPPORT.  It is so much harder alone and it can be difficult to see yourself from a 360 perspective when you are in it.
