Happy Holidays and here we go to 2025!!! Here is a list of some of the top health and wellness trends for 2025!
It feels like there are a lot of folks looking to learn from the last 5 years. They want a fresh start and want to finish this decade with hopefulness, positivity, peace, nourishment, ownership and accountability. I am hopeful as we need this ….
Each year I like to share what is trending on the wellness front and provide my thoughts and insights. I hope you enjoy and see you in Jan 2025.
1. Longevity and Healthspan Focus
Consumers are prioritizing healthspan—the period of life spent in optimal health. Preventive wellness solutions like Peptides + supplements, digital health trackers, and therapies for cellular regeneration are on the rise.
Dr Pia: The quality of your life matters. Trackers, Peptides and other therapies can be useful if you can use the information as motivation to make nourishing decisions in the moment that support long term health. A word on supplements. Quality matters! There are more choices than ever touting lifechanging results so be discerning. Also on that note: Digestive support needs to be on the list so you can absorb the nutrients you are taking….
2. Holistic and Community Wellness
Holistic approaches that integrate mental, emotional, and physical health are gaining traction. Community-based wellness activities, including group fitness classes, shared cooking experiences, and retreats, support overall well-being and social connection.
Dr Pia: Love this as most of you know.. I am always making an effort to gather folks.
3. Personalized Nutrition and Gut Health
Personalized diets focusing on gut health are more mainstream, emphasizing polyphenols, probiotics, fiber, and a diet of diverse plant-based foods. Functional Testing and plans tailored to individual needs are also growing in popularity.
Dr Pia: Digestion starts with Parasympathetic tone: Rest and Digest.
4. Electrolytes for Hydration and Recovery
Electrolytes are being recognized for more than just sports recovery. Formulations addressing dehydration, fatigue, and overall energy levels are becoming wellness staples, particularly among active individuals and those in high-stress environments.
Dr Pia: For people with those conditions and for anyone taking medications that impact sodium and potassium balance, talk with your doctor before starting an electrolyte supplement.
Some electrolyte mixes have 1,000 milligrams of sodium a serving. While this is high for an average person only getting light movement. Some clients do well with them—especially for very active folks living in hot climates, older adults, salty sweaters, or even for breastfeeding moms (who have increased hydration needs).
Magnesium is another one to keep in mind—especially if you’re taking other supplements like multivitamins or one for sleep. If you are someone who takes multiple supplements, it’s always a good idea to tally up any overlapping ingredients.
5. Air and Water Filters for Healthier Living
Clean air and water are foundational to wellness. Advanced filtration systems are becoming must-haves in homes, especially in urban areas where pollution and contaminants in water supplies are concerns. Consumers are investing in smart air purifiers and high-tech water filters to ensure optimal health.
Dr Pia: The quality of our water supply has been shown to contain harmful toxins. It is a must to filter your water. It is also a must to stop drinking water out of plastic bottles. I get it that the weather can have an impact and you might have to have a case on hand… I learned that the hard way during our first winter in Texas. LOL. Daily consumption should be filtered. There are lots of options based on budget and honestly .. many are not drinking enough water.
On Air Quality. We are spending more and more time inside than ever before and it’s not just the air outside we need to be worried about. In fact, studies show that the air inside can be up to five times more polluted4 than what you’re breathing outside. Again, there are lots of options based on budget. Another way to reduce the inside pollution is to look at the toxic load of your home products.
6. Proactive Menopause Support
Women are tired of being told it is all in their head. Menopause care is evolving from reactive to proactive. Women are embracing natural remedies, personalized hormone therapies, and lifestyle changes to manage this transistion. Education, support groups, and tailored wellness plans are helping normalize the conversation.
Dr Pia: The adrenals pick up the work of making hormones when the ovaries wind down, so if the adrenal glands aren’t in good shape, they don’t have enough raw materials left over to create female hormones, which can worsen a woman’s perimenopausal experience. Women are learning that strength training, rest, balanced blood sugar and support are an important part of a healthy transiition. On that note: Women are also learning how to apply these same nourishing methods during pregnancy to aleviate difficult postpartum symptoms.
7. High-Protein Diets for Muscle and Metabolism
High-protein diets continue to gain traction, with a focus on lean proteins, plant-based options, and functional protein powders. These diets support muscle maintenance, metabolism, and satiety, aligning with goals for healthy aging, building muscle and supporting weight management.
Dr Pia: Quality of the protein source matters. Healthy digestion and adequate HCL (I like Zypan ) is required to breakdown proteins into amino acids the body can use. How much you need depends on the person and their health. Incorporating animal protein helps us stay within optimal calorie ranges and support lean muscle maintenance, metabolic health, and even longevity without risking caloric excess. Concerns about saturated fats and cholesterol in animal proteins arise primarily when these are consumed alongside excess calories and high-carbohydrate intake.
8. AI Integration in Fitness
AI-powered workout plans, and virtual reality fitness is transforming how we exercise. These tools provide tailored solutions and gamify workouts, making fitness more engaging and accessible.
Dr Pia: Sounds like fun once in a whole. Only thing to add is that I would also incorporate fitness that is not connected to over stimulation.
9. Mental Health and Mindfulness Practices
Mindfulness practices like meditation, journaling, and yoga are essential for stress management. Apps and tools supporting mental health are increasingly integrated into daily routines, reflecting a broader acceptance of mental well-being as central to overall health.
Dr Pia: Big Fan… Longtime Yogi… Mindful Practices have helped support me through life’s ups and downs. I love to also do meditative walking out in nature. It helps me recover from stress and allows my eyes to focus on the horizon while taking deep breaths through my nose. As James Clear says, “You are better equipped to deal with stress and creativity when you are moving.”
10. Skincare
On one hand we have a shift to minimalistic, natural multifunctional products. On the other hand we have a recent survey of Gen Alpha Americans that found that these young folks are buying into these products en masse: one out of three respondents said they had a “multi-step skin care routine to combat aging, which was more than their adult counterparts—both millennials and Gen X.
On top of that, 51% said they would spend $100 per month, which is more than double the number of millennials who said the same thing. And 58% of teens consider skincare to be an important part of their self-care routine.
Dr Pia: We talk a lot about skin in my office. How we look is very important to us. That being said the outside barrier is a reflection of the inside barrier. I have found clinically that when we heal and support the inside the skin glows.
I hope you enjoyed this article. I am a future thinker and I am always curious as it relates to all things health and wellness. On one hand it is fantastic how far technology has come and how it can support health. It is also true that the fundamentals haven’t changed that much. As we move forward into 2025, I think finding the balance is key.
